Conferting to GIF format

How can I convert some text into a GIF format form that I
can use as a heading on a web page without being concerned
about the font being used? Some of the fonts I would like
to use on web pages are not those that are commonly
available by other users who access our web site. If I
could build a line or two of text as a graphic (GIF ?),
then I could insert it as I have need and not have to
worry about whether a visitor to our web site had that
same font or not.

If you have an image editing programming, such as photoshop, etc., that's
where it's done.

Use a image application and type your text and select your font, then save
as GIF.

Food for thought: How many people do you think are really going to download
and install the fonts on their computer?

Don't forget about the legal issues of allowing people to download a font
that isn't theirs to distribute.

i use JASC Paint Shop Pro image editing software. it is
fairly easy to learn, very powerful and you can apply text
to any image or create a text only image and then save it
as a gif. it even compresses it for you. kleo

tom is right in his answer. i have done some research into
this myself after trial and error and found that the only
way to garantee that a font will be seen is to learn and
use an image editing program, put exotic fonts into an
image(gif/jpeg) and use web save or common fonts for the
main body of the page.
www.microsoft.com/topography/fonts/default.asp lists the
most common fonts.

Try creating a text box in another office program then save the text box as
picture when you are done.
