How do I concatenate video files in Windows XP, i.e. combining multiple
small video parts into one large one...video1.mpg + video2.mpg +
video3.mpg ==> videoTOTAL.mpg?

I'm interested in the following video formats: .avi, .asf, .mpg, .wmv.

Thanks in advance.

try using Movie Maker. not sure it will handle the avi however.

mpeg is easy the others are not..

With mpeg all you need to do is create a new zip file and add the individual mpeg files in the order you want them with no compression used. Then save the file and rename the .zip extension to .mpg

Other types of avi will need to be decoded then re-encoded together. I think this procedure is possible with virtual dub. Note that when a video stream is decoded and re-encoded video quality is always compromised

With any type of procedure like this you will need to make sure that the individual files share the same resolution, framerate etc
