comuter hostile takeover

My computer gave me every indiacation that it had been
attacked by a nasty virus, so I installed Norton
antivirus protection and to no avale my computer is still
posessed. I tried to restore it to an earlier date but
still no success. If there is anyone who has an Idea of
what to try, just short of reinstallation of my operating
system, Please help

You may have virus called w32.blaster.worm that corrupts

windows. The virus updates windows xp firewall and
disables it. This creates repeated shutdowns by windows.
If you have symantic virus protection. Click on under
symantic "more symantic solutions" or use this
site "http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/d
ata/w32.blaster.worm.removal.tool.html" that has the fix
that deletes the worm from your computer. If you don't
have symantic virus proctection but have macafee they
should have a fix for it to.
