computer won't stop rebooting!

My computer reboots automatically at start up and goes to
a screen: start safe mode or last know config that worked
or load windows normally.

Which ever I select, the computer reboots and goes back
to that screen! It will do that 10-15 times...then it
will load!!!

I have done a reformat of my drive twice because of this.
I have installed the Microsoft updates. I checked my
cables and cards. Any ideas?

Hi there,

Just an fyi -- I wound up in that exact same situation
after I (foolishly) believed that I could upgrade from XP
Home to XP Pro... since there was no way to "undo" such
an upgrade, the only way I could easily save all of my
data was to get another hard drive, and do a raw install
of XP Pro onto the new hard drive... using the old hard
drive a a data disk.

Hi,

I did not do anything to the operating system. I have
reformated the hard disk to try and get rid of this
problem. Today it took nearly 20 times of this rebooting
before windows loaded!

Another question....if I got a new hard disk....my
computer is an HP and has Windows factory installed on a
partiton of the drive....I do not have a CD with Windows.
How would I install it on the new drive?
