computer won't respond after I open a few explorer windows

Hi,
I am using vista home edition. everytime, after i opened a few explorer
pages, also with a few word, excel doc opened, my computer started to not
respond to any command. i couldn't receive/send emails, couldn't save docs,
couldn't open any more explorer windows, everything seemed to be "locked",
does anybody know how to find a cause/solution?

How much RAM is in your computer? If you have less tha 2GB, increase it.

The First Question Of Troubleshooting: what changed between the time things
worked and the time they didn't?

The Second Question of Windows Troubleshooting: what is the malware/virus
status of the machine? If you think it is clean, what programs (and
versions) did you use to determine this?

sounds like you might be over loading the capability of vista home edition.

do you have at least 2gb of ram.

have you restricted the page file or using recommended SYSTEM MANAGED.

have you restricted the size of the IE cache or any of its other folders. like cookies, history, etc....
