computer won't power down with xp pro

Since installing xp pro on my computer it will not automatically power down.
I didn't have this problem with win 98se. Is there a setting that can be
changed? I dont like having to sit and wait for my computer to tell me that I
can turn off the power.

In Control Panel | Power Options is there an APM tab? If so click on
that and put a tic mark to turn on APM.
