Yesterday i loaded some Canon software onto my computer, for a new digital
camera. I kept getting the message "Low Virtual Memory" or something similar
- unfortunately i didn't take any notice. That error message kept coming up
and eventually the screen just hung and i couldn't do anything. I was able
to shut it down, but since then i have not been able to boot it up. WHen i
press the power button i hear it churring away and the power light comes on,
but i get three beeps and the screen remains blank and the caps light on the
keyboard just flashes.

Does anyone know what this means? Can anyone out there help me or offer
suggestions so i can at least get something up on the screen??

Sounds like hardware failure. Check you mobo manual for beep codes.

I think this error and the canon installation are coincidental. From the
info you provided, were I in your shoes here's what I'd try:
- Make sure the Canon device is not plugged in and see if that makes a
difference
- Reset my BIOS (pulling the jumper by the CMOS battery on my motherboard -
though the exact process differs by board manufacturer so check your manual)
***Note - if you don't feel comfortable opening your computer then you might
not want to try the above suggestion. Also I don't know your setup so you
may need to reconfigure certian options in BIOS after doing this to have full
functionality off all your hardware. I'm not trying to scare you just make
you aware. Personally if I were in your situation I'd reset the BIOS, test
my RAM by using only 1 peice at a time and then well, I'd probably try
resetting my BIOS again....
