My computer resently starting acting up. It kept locking up and
finally went to a blue screen that say Physical memory dump.

After that, it rebooted my computer, and would not load up. After
trying a few things, I had reinstall my startup discs. Now it will
load windows like normal, but everytime I restart my computer it gets
to the boot screen and just sits there. I have to hit F1 for it to
continue to boot. Other than that it seems to be working fine.

Does anyone know why it would all of a sudden start doing this. What
is F1 doing, just telling it to skip the boot process? Any info would
be helpful. Thanks.

If the F1 choice is loading the default BIOS setup, it *could* be that your
CMOS settings aren't being retained, due to a bad battery (on the
motherboard.)

Just a first thought, but more specific info about your system might be
helpful.

I had a HD failure and the S.M.A.R.T. monitoring routine would cause
the boot process to stop and require a F1 to continue.

Given your original intermittent problems, maybe you have a sick HD?
