I have a computer that will power on for about 1 second and immediately power
off. I thought that it may have been the power supply so I removed one side
of the case of the case and saw that the light on the motherboard was on so I
know that it is getting power. I reseated all connections and tried to start
up again but it did the same thing. Any suggestions? The computer is running
XP home with 512mb ram.

It could still be the power supply. Also, check the fan on the power
supply and cpu to be sure they're running.

CPU fan will start but it shuts down with the computer. Power supply fan does
likewise. I will go ahead and order another power supply since they are not
that expensive.
