Computer will NOT recognize DVD Burner??

I have a computer that, of all DVD Burners I've tried, refuses to burn
any dvd. It gives some error saying either the drive isn't installed
or that the media is incompatable.

I've already swaped out and tried 3 different drives, rebooted and
everything.

Can someone help?

Delete and re-install the cdrom.sys file. Some burning software/copy
protection software may have damaged it.

This is a symptom of your OS (if XP) being corrupted and needing a new
install. BTDT.
