computer stop responding??

My computer stop responding after 1 0r 3 hours of turn on.

I was thought that hardware problem, but I replaced the hd
with win 98 and the problem disappear.

You may still have a hardware issue, perhaps flaky RAM. WinXP is a lot
pickier about borderline hardware than Win98.

Have a look in the System Event Log (use Event Viewer) and see if there are
any errors reported arround the time that you see the problem. Double click
on the error event and use the button provided to copy the info to the clip
board. Post that info here.
