I assume that when I agree to send an error report that it goes somewhere.
Can someone please tell me where it goes and if it goes somewhere that can
help me correct the problem that is causing the errors? I hope that
correcting what is causing the errors will speed my computer back up and will
stop me being booted off line on a regular basis. I hope someone will be able
to help with this.

I rather doubt that Microsoft is interested in collecting errors on a soon to
be dead operating system, rather it's best to come here and post your issues
for advice.
more details are needed, what are you using for browsing?
are any errors displayed, if so what are they? what is it that keeps
happening?
details, details, details.

There are several MS articles about this process, here is a basic one:

And more details for people that like to understand such things:

You can even track your error, but I would not expect to get any
personal message or even a response since they don't (allegedly) have
any of your personal information, but it could be fun to follow what
actually happens to your report. Think how many must come in every
day... more than a couple.

You have the right attitude - it is more important to figure out what
is causing the error and fix the problem than to just trun off the
mechanism so you don't see the error. Doing so would still leave the
problem.

Repeatable problems are the easiest to figure out and resolve/
explain.

You need to first be sure you have the latest software updates for XP
since if it is a MS problem, they may have already fixed it.

If you look at the box that offers to "Send" information to Microsoft,
you'll find a link to a text file that is about to be sent. By examining
this log in Notepad, you (or someone else) may be able to divine the source
of your difficulty.

The error report goes to Microsoft. You won't get a reply to the
report, but it helps them to know what problems Windows users are
having and what they need to fix.
