Hello,
Recently my computer has started to power down for no apparent reason. It
usually happens when I am in a very graphics intensive game. Without warning
the power shuts off. If I reset my power supply after waiting a minute or
two, I can power it back one and it runs fine for hours. Then it happens
again, out of the blue. It has done this for a few days now. Here is the
message text of the latest "Save Dump" from the Event Viewer:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x000000ea
(0x89413d10, 0x89cb7008, 0xbacdbcb4, 0x00000001). A full dump was not saved.

Any ideas?

Thanks folks!
Ernie

What type of video card are you using? Go to the vendor's website and get an
updated driver for your video card.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.

I have an NVIDEA GeForce 6800 with this driver version 8.1.9.8.

I don't recall any change within my game software that requires a driver
upgrade. Did recent Windows upgrades require hardware vendors to follow
suit? I don't understand why something that was working would all the sudden
change out of the blue.

Cheers,
Ernie

Hi,

Could be the card is overheating. You may want to add an extra fan or two,
and also check that the vents are not clogged by dust bunnies.

Thanks,
I'll check for the dust, but the core temp hasn't gone above 56 C, and the
warning point is way higher than that according to the driver GUI.

I've been having much the same problem. Usually, before I get the blue
screen and spontaneous reboot, my computer will freeze requiring a reboot.
This is a new system with an Nvidia 7600GT video card, 2 gig of RAM, AMD
3800+ CPU. I'm also not getting any indication of overheating or, at least,
no warning.
