computer restarts before scan is done

The past few times I have tried to run a scan I've run
into a problem. The scan goes fine until the end. Before
it finishes scanning the registry keys, my computer shuts
down and restarts itself. The scan never gets completed.
Can anyone help?

Does this also occur when you try to scan with Microsoft AntiSpyware? Did
you get a glimpse at which registry key the computer restarts?

This is likely due to a problem with some spyware
removing the security of certain registry keys. When
MSAS reaches those keys it indefinately loops, causing
the system to run out of memeory and crash, possibly
rebooting the system. Run a scan with either Ad-Aware or
Spybot to deal with this type of infection as they are
not affected by these types of registry problems.
