Hello All,

I got WIN-XP, but every time I tried to upgrade from
WIN98SE to WIN-XP, I'd get an error message stating that
the video card was incompatible with the motherboard.

However, after trying suggestions from ASUS, the
motherboard manufacturer, I tried booting the computer
from the WIN-XP CD-ROM and the upgrade "took Off."

Now, I've run into my first problem, which is when I
click on Start, Turn Off Computer, then Turn Off computer
again, WIN-XP says that it's shutting down, and the
computer looks like it's shutting off, but then I see the
BIOS version and the computer reboots or restarts.

Is there a "shutdown bug" like WIN98SE had, which I
corrected by downloading the "shutdown fix" for WIN98, or
is there some setting that I need to change somewhere?

I can't get the computer to shut down when clicking on
Turn Off Computer and the computer reboots or restarts
instead.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice that you may
give,

Bernie

Hi Bernie,

Just curious, but what were the suggestions from ASUS?

As for your issue, see if this applies/helps:

Disable everything that reads 'Wake up' in the BIOS settings. Also, I have
seen this behavior if you have a CD/DVD in the drive during a shutdown.
