I had to reload windows XP, and when my friend was typing my name in, he typed it wrong. My last name is wrong so when I have programs that open that show my name, its wrong and it is bothering me...could someone please tell me how to go back in and change that information? Thank you so much!!

To change the registered owner, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
3. Locate the following registry key in Registry Editor:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion

4. To change the name of the registered owner, double-click RegisteredOwner.
Under Value data, type the name that you want, and then click OK.
5. Close Registry Editor and restart your computer.

Greetings --

However, to fix the "Registered to" information for WinNT/2K/XP,
you can use Start > Run > Regedit.exe to edit:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\RegisteredOwner

and:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current
Version\RegisteredOrganization

How this will affect the name displayed in previously installed
applications will vary depending upon each individual program; some
read the registered owner information dynamically, while others read
it only during installation.
