I'd like to be able to click on C: or any folder for that matter, set up
the details that I want to show and have all the sub folders have the
same details as the parent. Is this possible?

Thanx for any help,
Bob

Complain if you want, I like Vista!

Organize -> Folder & Search Options -> 'View' tab -> 'Apply to Folders' will
set a default view with the details you've chosen for all folders that use
the same template ('All Items', 'Documents', 'Pics', etc.) as the folder
from which you execute 'Apply to Folders'.

To ensure that all subfolders of a given folder use the same template, use
the 'Also apply this template to all subfolders' option found on the
'Customize' tab of the folder's 'Properties' dialog.

The 'Apply to Folders' option does set a global template for a particular
folder type, not just a particular folder & subfolders. I've written a
script for XP that does exactly what you want -- I hope to have a Vista
version ready soon.

Thanx Keith, YOU da man! Works perfectly and your instructions were
great......but... I went to the properties folder then customize but
never found the "Also apply etc." option. I didn't need it just thought
I'd throw that in so your head wouldn't swell!! ;o)

Take it easy and Thanx again,
Bob

Now that I have your "ear" I forgot something: How can I resize a
folders view and keep it after exiting. I'd some folders a diff size so
it wouldn't be a global thing. I'd like to click on a folder, size to my
liking, save that size and position on the screen. Thank You even if you
don't have an answer.

Bob

Size & position are saved along with the folder view. But if you browse to
the folder via an explorer window that's in a different position and then
close explorer, that new position gets saved.
