Computer names and space problems

I just reformatted my computer and it showys that I only have 7% space left
on my drive. I can see the former computer names from past reformats. Is it
possible that these names have files that are taking up the space. I cannot
open up the folders to see what is in them....nor can I delete them. I am
baffled.
 
You may think this picky but sometimes correct terminology can resolve issues
fasters.
You didn't format the computer, you formatted the hard drive, also you
neglected to give details on how your pc is set up, ie how many partitions
and the size before and after the format.

As presumably after a format you shouldn't see anything except for blank
space, so I'm thinking you did something wrong, ie specified the wrong
partition, how are you able to see the allocation of the HD without some kind
of operating system?

So please provide details.

Then you can't have reformatted as formatting a drive wipes ALL the
information on that drive, OS, programs AND data.

If you do decide to reformat then back your data, emails etc up first other
wise they will be lost.
 
You proabaly reinstalled your operating system and did not actually reformat.
If you see former "computer names"/"user names", you did not perform a
successfully reformat. A complete reformat would had removed all contents
from that partition.

If you are trying to take control folder, you need to login as an
administrator and Right click on a folder, go to properties, go to security
tab, go to advance tab, then go to the owner tab. Select administrators, and
then check the "replace owner on sub containers and objects". Then click
apply.
Once you have ownership of a file, you can delete them.

Exactly what did you do? Please be very specific. What makes you think that
you reformatted the drive (not the computer)?

Given what you say below, almost certainly you did *not* reformat it.
