computer nameing convention

Crash Override

We use the serial number of the machine preceeded by either
a W for workstation, S for server or N for notebook. So
for a workstation with serial number ABC123 , we would name
it WABC123.

my company. This is going to be a deployment of 600
workstation in one building. Any suggestions?
 
The use of the serial number is a good format too, but you can also use the
pc #. here's what i mean by pc#: having 600 workstations you must have some
kind of inventory for control and usaly companies use bar coded stickers for
inventory. by using the bar coded sticker number as the pc name will give
the network admin better view of a particular pc on the network. it works
better all around. i know... i've done it.
