Computer name vs IP address

Hello,

I have several PC's on my home network and one of them has a shared printer.
Some of the other PC's can map to the PC with printer by its name, others
can only map to it using it's IP address. I'm sure that the ones that can
only map with IP address have something configured differently.

Does anyone know what that is?

Thanks in advance -- Dave

Dave,

Take a look at "ipconfig /all" for the computers, both those that can access by
name and those that can't. Look at Node Type.

And make sure that NetBT is explicitly Enabled on all computers.

Do any of the computers run Windows 95/98/Me? Those versions can't
see a shared printer if the share name is longer than 12 characters or
contains certain non-alphanumeric characters.
