HELLO, ALL!
I'm trying to take the computer's name off the end of my account
folder in C:\Documents and Settings. It's stuck there, like
<username>.<computername>
I've tried to change the folder name per usual method. No dice.
I've taken ownership of that folder and tried. Nope.
I've gone into Recovery Console (which was tweaked so that I could
access other folders than WINDOWS) and tried to change it. It seemed
to work (at least I didn't get an 'access denied' error msg), but when
I booted up as per normal, the computer name was back.
I've tried logging on in Safe Mode as Administrator, and tried. No
joy.
It should be mentioned that this unit is the host in a small WLAN,
with two wireless-client-laptops connected to it....Also, everywhere I
go to view User Accounts (everywhere--Control Panel>User Profiles, or
Run>lusrmgr.msc, or in the mmc file, or in Run>control user
passwords2), the username is correct, w/out that unasked-for suffix.
Anyone help with this?? Thanks in advance.
