Hi there.
I want to change computer name settings. The problem is, that I am
testing a smart card, that requires a domain system. During install the
card has altered my computer in a manner, that my workgroup became my
domain. I do not have a domain controller.

Ad rem: if I change back to workgroup I can change a computer name, but
I cannot go back to domain, hence the smart card login does not work.

Question: What should I change in my computer to change it back to
domain? (except reinstalling back the smart card - isn't there a simpler
way?)

system of course is XP Professional

TIA

Seems like your smart card requires a domain. Check the requirements of
the smart card.

It surely does - but my problem is how to change from workgroup to
domain without one. While installing smart card it does something like
this to the system. I want to know HOW it is done. (Of course it all
takes place without any domain controller).

My guess is that it changes the registry setting. You can record the
chages by using a monitoring or snapshot program to record the changes.

A monitoring program like Cleansweep should give you the information.
Windows 2000 deployment can also do this. I can't remember the name of
the program/module that does this. It maybe the MSI creator/generator.
