Computer Lock up

I am using Word 2000 in Office XP Professional. I have 500mb Ram. I have constant lock-ups when working with documents
I have had it to the shop they have checked the memory chips. Does anyone know of any incompatibilities with Office XP
I have an Epson Stylus C70 printer and an Epson Perfection 1250 scanner.
Anyone got any good ideas please?

It is usually external influences that cause problems, so start by:
1. renaming normal.dot
2. remove any add-ins
3. reset the registry data key ( see

4. remove any abandoned temp files
