Computer in Standby

I have always used standby instead of shutting off my computer (slow start
up) but recently, it's been restarting on it's own. I'm guessing that
there's a program running in the background as nothing comes up when I open
the Task Manager. Any ideas???

First of all I assume when you say restarting you mean, it is coming out of
standby while you aren't at the machine. If it is just restarting on you all
of the sudden it could be a system error. But I will assume you mean coming
out of standby.

So, first you need to click on the processes tab of task manager not just
the applications tab. In the processes tab you can sort the processes by
user name by clickin where it says user name. Any items in the list with
your user name could be causing this except taskmgr.exe and explorer.exe.
Now if you have an anti-virus or anti-spyware program they are the main
suspects of this. I have always hated system standby myself but to each his
own. Good Luck
