computer geek needs help

why since loading xp on my computer has it slooooowed
down? nothing in this world makes me madder!!! what do i
need to do to speed things up? help!?!
 
How much RAM do you have? What type of processer are you running? AMD's
run really slow with XP and XP requires a minimum of 64 megs of RAM, though
it's recommended by Microsoft to have 128, and even at that is barely making
it. 256 or better would be better.

Did you run the Compatibility Wizard before installing? If not, that was
your first mistake.

mean anything to you? and yes ran compat. wizard. now
what? or am i condemned to this slow computer forever?!!!?

Well, what are your system's hardware specifications? What
motherboard and chipset? What CPU? How much RAM? etc, etc, etc.

Amd's will run slower than Pentium's with XP installed, especcially with
alot of other programs installed. What did compatibility wizard say? Did
it give any recommendations? Try installing more Ram, as even on my Pentium
4, at 256, XP could be faster.

Another suggestion is to check for malware and/or viruses slowing things
down.

I got a P4 2.6Ghz and after a couple of months use, it goes slow whe
booting, try bootvis(search the web i forgot the site :D) but its fre
and it did the work for me. plus look at your startup(also on msconfi
startup) if you have a program that doesnt need to run on start up
uncheck it, it helps a lot. good luc

The five machines I have tested XP on that all have AMD's installed. They
all were very much slower than Pentiums. Some were better than others, but
I prefer Pentium for XP. Much faster and more stable. And the ability to
have more than one open program.........
