Computer freezes when inserting a movie.

Why does my computer freeze when inserting a movie. The file is a mpg file,
57 mb, and in he same folder as the powerpoint presentation.
I tried it on another machine. It inserted but was just a black box and
didn't play.

what sort of mpeg is it?

mpeg 1, 2 or 4 etc

Where did it come from

Is it saved on a local hard drive or a network drive.

I tchink it might be mpeg 1. I used Nero Vision that read the file which was
a VOB file converted from a tape. Nero 6 read the VOB file and I clipped a
portion, converted it to mpeg but didn't specify which mpeg. I thought about
it and decided to convert it to avi and it worked. I saved it in the same
folder because it is linked to the Power Point presentation.

If it's from nero then it could well be MPEG2.

Does nero give you the option as saving it as WMV

If so, try that
