Computer flashing

On my sons computer he had a virus, I then bought a Norton Internet security 2004 which when I installed and ran came up with various viruses. The virus scan could not delete all so I had to go into safe mode and delete them (all the time his computer is now flashing - flickering, apart from when I right click the mouse) through windows explorer. I think I may have deleted something that I should not have and am trying to restore the computer to a previous date but it will not allow me to (I have checked that system restore is on). When I go into system restore through start, all programs, accessories the system restore is highlighted, I guess this has something to do with my problem? please help

Chances are what you deleted were sections of System restore restore points.
A lot if not all Virus Scanners cannot remove the virus once it gets to be part
of system restore point
It tells you the virus is there but thats it.
Try shutting down System Restore and reboot
This will delete all restore points
Then turn Restore Back on.
If this does not do the trick post back
OH....make sure the virus is gone before you turn restore back on
