Is it just me, or have Central England Computer Fairs gone down the pan over
the past few months? It seems that the good quality real traders have all
gone and to replace them we end up with toytown traders selling daft gadgets
that can be bought on Ebay for much less cost. I have attended many central
england computer fairs over the past few years and they seem to be at an all
time low just now. Maybe its the end of the road for the computer fair. I
for one won't be visiting them anymore because I can buy everything online
for less cost and less hassle and without leaving my chair.

I felt the same way. Prices were distintly uncompetitive last year.
I spotted one vendor selling Bulkpaq Orange DVDs for 30UKP when the mail
order price was about 10UKP.

However I did have a PC emergency a few months ago and picked up a working
Athlon XP3000 for much less than any mail order prices. IIRC it was about
80UKP and Mail Order it was mid nineties.

Generally I only use them when I've broken something the day before :)

I think you are correct here in Pa we have a Market Pro
Computer Show and they are a bit higher than vendors at pricewatch.com
and of course there is sales tax also. Their are still some bargains but you
have to look.
I remember if something was selling on the Internet for a 100 dollars you
could get it at the show for 10 to 20 percent lower, this is not the cast
anymore. Video Card in particular as an example.

Out of interest where is Pa ?

you would have thought they would sell the stuff cheap to avoid carrying it
all the way back to base.

Just because some of us respond to questions and do morris dancing
doesn't make us still part of the realm.

:-)

I agree. I normaly go to the KGP show in Edison NJ. They used to have it every
3 or 4 months. Now they have them almost every month. It's been getting smaller
and smaller. Alot more vendors selling junk and used crap.
