I recently had a motherboard change for my computer,
before the change I am able to standby perfectly, the
light at the start button flickers normally. But now the
start button light flickers unusually quickly and after a
few minutes turns off but the key board lights are still
on only that the only way for me to return to windows is
to restart. Has anyone experienced this problem before or
found a solution to it?

To resolve this behavior, turn off the "Allow this device to bring the computer
out of standby" option for the mouse:

1. Click Start on the taskbar, click Control Panel, and then double-click System.
2. Click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
3. In Device Manager, click the plus sign (+) next to Mice and other pointing devices,
and then double-click the listing for the mouse.
4. In the Properties dialog box for the mouse, click the Power Management tab.
5. Place a check in the "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" check box.
6. Use the same procedure for your keyboard.

Hi Jeff,

One or more of the installed drivers does not support the standby function.
Did you install the drivers that came with the new MB? Have you checked for
updates on any of them? Was a repair installation of WinXP done after the
change (hint: it should be)?

Also, since you got new BIOS with new MB, disable "Power Management'
in the BIOS. you only want to use what's in Windows.
