Computer/Disk Manament problems

When trying to access the Disk Management options from the
Computer Managemnt GUI I get an error that it is unable to
contect to Logical Disk Management service. I checked the
services and both are set to manual, which is I assume the
prefered settings. After checking those the Disk Mangement
is still not working.. ..any ideas on why? win xp home
