wonder the power supply burned and somehow my mother

Does anything display? The POST? If not the graphics adapter and or other
parts may have taken a hit as well.

there's nothing display. so what exactly gets hit?

No way for me to know. You'll need to start swapping out the hardware.

Do you get a Post Beep from the Computer? Can you hear any disk activity as
if the computer is working? Can you get into the Monitor's Setup menu via
the buttons?

Your local computer repair shop can do this quickly
and save the headache
