The other day my computerscreen went black. The lamp indicating that the
computer was running was still alight but it went all quiet. I tried another
powersupply even though it seemed like the computer got power and it started
up again, apparently it was the powersupply after all. The problem is that
windows seems to start up properly untill I get to the part where I should be
allowed to log in instead i get the msg.
It is a translate from the swedish msg so it might not be exactly like this.
"Services.exe one component could not be found (). This program could not be
started because umpnpmgr.dll could not be found. This problem can be solved
by reinstalling the program."

After an eternity I actually get to log in and another 30-45 minutes wait
actually starts up windows but everytime I try do anything it takes like 30
minutes for something to happen. Well I figured I should reinstall windows
but when I try I realise I can't since I don't have the S-ATA drivers on a
floppydisc and the only computer with a working floppystation is the one that
is corrupt and I can't copy the needed files to a floppy at the moment.
Without these drivers there seems to be no way to repair or reinstall
windows.

Is there anyway to make the computer take the drivers needed to install the
harddrives for a windowsreinstall from another source than a floppy? The
motherboard came with a cd-rom and I can also get the files onto a usb
memorystick. Seems abit oldfashioned to make it dependent on floppies, my new
laptop don't even have a floppydrive.

If that isn't possible is there anyway I can override things so that the
windowsinstaller can detect my harddrives without having to install the
sata-drivers?

I really would be grateful if there was a solution except resetting the
computer to factorysettings since it will take a massive amount of time
getting things back together.

The drivers should be on the disk(CD or Floppy)that came with the
motherboard. simply copy the drivers to another floppy and reinstall
windows and when the setup asks for drivers press F6 and put the floppy
in the drive.

Forgot to mention that I tried to use a restorepoint but I got the message
that it couldn't protect the computer???

I managed to get scandisc to run but it didn't find anything wrong.

Would be great if I could get enough access to the computer to get the files
copied. I got them copied at a friends house but apparently something was
corrupt with it because I got an errormsg while installing the drivers.

Ok so what is your SATA Controller? If it is Promise or Via I can
email you the drivers.

Rick

Problem is not getting the files, problem is getting them on a floppydisc
that is required to install them.
