Computer crash can't find any help

I turned my computer off one night turned it back on in
morning and it will not load. Says windows root>system32
\hal.dll missing please reinstall. Rescue disk nor
operating disk will not work. Can't reach Sony. Can't
find a solution anywhere. Can someone help??

If it is only the hal missing, I would try booting to the recovery console
and copy that single file to system32. At the very least you should be able
to run a repair install from the WinXP cd to restore the os. In either
case, you will probably want to reinstall sp1 once the system is up.

Start comp press f1 or delete to enter bios, set boot

device priority to make cd first boot device,boot from os
disk& repair or reinstall
