Hi,
Whilst in the process of automatic downloading of security files I go to
Control Panel and click on the multi coloured Security Centre shield to open
it. The Firewall, Automatic Updates and Virus protection all show green and
are ON.
At the completion of the download of the files, I get the message your
computer may be at risk. The Virus Protection turns RED and switches to OFF
for between 7/10 seconds, which is plenty of time to become infected. Can
this 7/10seconds without security be corrected.
Please advise. Best wishes for 2005.

Do you have a current version (not earlier than 2003) antivirus
installed? It would seem so. All the message from Security Center means
is that it doesn't recognize your av program. It does not mean your
computer is unprotected (unless of course you *don't* have an av
installed). If you know your av is current, the definitions are
updated, and it is running in the background, you can disable Security
Center's alerts from its applet in Control Panel.

Sounds like the AV is installing the new sec files.
If it goes green again I would say it's just normal program action.
