Computer Associates EZ AV hangs computer??!!

After my posts yesterday concerning my unreliable PC which will hang and if
left for a few minutes recovers, I have found the following issue which is
not hardware issues as suggested by some.

When I browse the manchine (my docs etc.) with the CA EZ AV running, it will
hang opening the window and also when saving files. If I switch off the
realtime scanner the PC comes back to life.

Any ideas please?

Yes, contact their technical support.
I had a problem with their Pest Patrol update function. Their email support
was responsive for me.

This may not solve your problem but I have discovered that CA EZAV had a
conflict with Zone Alarm versions above the 4.5.594 version but I have
not checked it against the latest ZA Version.

I found seven separate PC's including two of mine, where there were
freezes much as you describe. What led me to this was there were no
issues at all with the new EZAV 7 until I heard that other folks found
different problems with ZA. They referred to some other problems and I
decided to switch back to my older version of ZA (4.5.594) and no more
lockup cases at all. So, I installed the ZA 4.5.594 on my laptop and
again no more freezes. Since then, I've done the switch on 5 other PC's
and it solved the problem on all of them.

Obviously this only applies if you are using ZA, if not, sorry. Hope
this helps.

Which version? (does not happen to me with ver 7.0.0.33, nor did it in
the version 6 I used before)
 
I've been deploying 7.0.5.3 for several weeks now and not had
a single issue like you describe.
 
Well, I dont use Zone Alarm (I have a Draytek hardware firewall and well as
Firmwire software) and technical support have been unable to help me thus
far. This is only happening on one PC.

Mr. McCarty - thank you for telling me you version runs fine - but that
doesn't help me very much. I'm sure there are lots of people running this
software without issues.

The version I am running is 7.1.192 and I've deployed this accross the LAN
to all machine without problems, its only this one problematic machine that's
crashing.

Am very stuck here. Think CA are too.
