you can get boot disks that can change the admin passwords. but this
should only be done on your own computer. changing other peoples
passwords is illegal.

locksmith is one program for changing them.

Log on in Safe Mode.

Xp Home - Start the computer in safe mode. The Administrator account is
usually blank unless it has been changed.

To start the computer in safe mode
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx

XP Pro - At the Welcome Screen, use CTRL+ALT+DEL (twice), to access the
logon prompt. Enter the Administrator as the user name and enter the
password that was created during the setup (installation) of XP Pro.

If you cannot remember the Administrator Account password then log into an
account with Admin privileges and follow the KB article.

How to log on to Windows XP if you forget your password or your password

If you have not entered a password you should hit the ENTER key to log
on as there is no password. This could be more common than anyone
forgetting their password, especially on a home computer.

This is what I posted, a little misleading.

"Xp Home - Start the computer in safe mode. The Administrator account is

Should have read:

Xp Home - Start the computer in safe mode. The Administrator account's
**password** is
usually blank unless it has been changed.

Minor further correction?

"The Administrator's account"

You can, however I think, have more than one Administrator, which
would require further amendment <g>.

That's enough grammar for today <bg>. In any event it not my strong
suit anyway. Many who post here don't even check spelling.

That looks correct. :-) Thanks for the tips.

Suppose I should add the Built-in Administrator.

Same here as you can see. LOL

I know exactly what you mean there.
