My computer has just come back from being upgraded to the new 64 bit proccesor.
The problem is that while it all works fine, if I try to shut down the
computer all it will do is restart. I have to manually switch it off at the
power button otherwise, as I have said, it just restarts itself. I have tried
the advanced setting on my Computer to switch off the automatic restart, but
it didn't help. Could it be new hardware that causes this problem or is it
down to a programming/settings fault?

Thanks for your time.

A computer that automatically restarts instead of shut down is 99% hardware
related. The new hardware youve installed has a conflict somewhere, usually
removing the newly added and returning to old should locate it.You can also
try,power off(unplug),remove the battery,locate the CMOS jumper pin,move
from the 1-2 position its in to 2-3 for .45 seconds or so,then back to
1-2,replace
battery, start computer. You'll need to enter BIOS on starting, set
date,time,etc,
load set up defaults or optimized defaults, then set for add in cards as
needed.
