In CDesigner, I tried to import an drivers INF file, but I get the
following error in a message box:

"File import failed due to unspecified error while processing file
[C:\Windows\INF\ZRINST.INF]."

I uploaded that file to www.secretorganisation.org/clickview/zrinst.inf

When I press OK, CDesigner becomes unresponsive but uses no CPU).

I tried a many different INF files, but the same thing happens.

Has anyone else got this error?
How do I get around it?

Thanks in advance,

-Vijay

That inf is hosed i think. When i touch it and save it, the data stream for
the inf becomes corrupt. So i copied the contents to Word, saved it as a txt
file, renamed to INF and it imports in CD now. Oh, i also needed to
temporarily uncomment the file resources that were commented out per the
note in the INF.

I tried what you did, but I still get the same error.

I tried econvert.exe as others have suggested and I tried just copying
the resources into the images appropriate folders before first boot.

I have Windows XP Embedded SP2 RC. Should I upgrade to SP2 full?
Andy, what version do you have installed?

VijayS,

There have been some important fixes in INF importer between RCs (and TP) and RTM.
You do want to upgrade to SP2 final version (Eval or Full).

Alright.

I get a message when I try to install Eval that I need to register
online at ms.embeddedoem.com. I tried that but I don't have a OEM
License Agreement number.

Does this mean I have to uninstall the RC and reinstall SP2 from
scratch? If so, It'll take me about a day in downloading.

Thanks KM!

VijayS,

If company you work for is a registred OEM, you can get the number.

I don't know if it is required to register on the OEM Secure site to get Eval verison installed (I wouldn't think so) but you do
want to uninstall RC first. It is usual procedure with a Beta product from MS.
