Follow-up to microsoft.public.outlook.installation

Hi I installed a program called mobilephonetools (by BVRD/Motorola) which is
complete crap and crashed every single time I try to use it. (It is
supposed to synchronize your cell phone's address book with OL contacts.)
I have uninstalled the program. HOWEVER, it still remains listed under
Add-in under Tools|Options|Other|Advanced Option|Add in Manager.
It gave me an error message that it could not load the add-in as the dll was
missing. (I uninstall the program so that would be normal.) I have
unchecked the box for the mobilephonetools add-in but I would like to
COMPLETELY REMOVE it from the system.
How do that? (So that it doesn't even appear under the list in Add-in
Manager?)
Tx for your help.

See if it's also listed in Com Add-ins on the Advanced page, you can use this
instruction from Help: "To remove an add-in, clear the check box next to the
add-in you want to remove, and then click Remove" If it's just in Add in
manager, you just uncheck it--that's all you can do. It always shows
everything that was ever installed. Look up Remove Addins in Help.

Mary, before I post here, I always check the help section, etc. No it is
not listed as a Com-Add-in.
That would be easy....
This can be removed certianly perhaps by editing the registry, or some other
way.
Anyone?
Tx,

Well I practiced what I preached and found it here:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Extensions]
"mobile PhoneTools"="4.0;C:\\Program Files\\mobile PhoneTools\\Outl97.dll;
1;01010000000100"
(There are other valid values under this key well that I am not including in
this post)

Deleting that (after backing it up just in case) did the trick.

Let me know anyone if any comments.
