Are there any other gmail people around here who have been unable to access
their mail through pop3 access? It's been more than 24 hours, and I still
can't get my mail. It's there on the web, and I can read it there, but I
need to download it.

Very frustrating.

Gmail is beta. All use it at your own risk.

I'm not having a problem with my gmail account.

Is it really still in beta? I didn't know that. I thought that they opened
up gmail to users without invitations when it left beta.

Sign on to gmail and open "Settings" Navigation there will lead you to
a checkbox that allows popmail transmission. I suspect that you
configured your client correctly, but didn't give gmail permission.

Nope. It's been working for a long time, and suddenly stopped. It's
working again right now, thank goodness. It seems gmail just screwed up.

Something is screwed up also in my gmail account, because since yesterday it
doesn't delete the emails from the inbox when I download them through pop3.
I checked my settings twice but it doesn't work.

I've had this happen only when the download was not completely successful.
Could it have gotten hung up, say, on a large attachment, and timed out?
This has happened a lot to me.

Thank you Jeff, unfortunately hungups are not my problem.
It's becoming a nightmare: if I don't delete them on the web manually, I
keep downloading the same emails ad infinitum.
It's started 2-3 days ago, I think it's a Gmail glitch.
I've read you contacted their tech support for another problem, could you
please give me a link? Grazie :-)

I know this is a dumb question, but...

On the gmail page, where you see your inbox, under "Settings," and then
"Pop3 and Forwarding" (or something like that), there is, under section two,
the following:

When messages are accessed with POP

And then there's a drop down box. May I assume you have the option selected
that moves the dowloaded messages to the archive? If not, then this will
create the situation you're describing.

Otherwise, under "Help," there's a series of faq's, and then, in the lower
left corner of the screen, a link to send a question to the gmail team.
That's what I did.

Good luck!

Yes, I have it selected but it doesn't move to the archive anymore.

Thank you very much, I'll try it!
