complete system restore for windows xp

i would like to do a complete system restore on my computer. I made
several back up disks when i got it. how am i supposed to use them?
and how do i do the restore without crashing my computer? I am new to
this and need help desperately. thank you

When you boot your computer, you must press a <Fn> button. It changes by
computer company. *Many you must press <esc>or <f2> check the first boot
screen. You must put the cd in the drive and select boot from CD. Then
follow the instructions provided depending on what you want. *THIS WILL
DELETE ALL OF YOUR FILES*
 
thank you. this has been a nightmare for me....my computer runs so
slow that restore is the only thing i can think of to fix it right now.
later i will get more memory for it but this is a quick fix for now.
One more question for you do i need my windows xp disc or is that also
