I'm using Excel 2000 with Windows 98 second edition.
Every time i start and/or exit Excel, there is this message:
"compiling error in hidden module Auto Exec New"
Has anyone come across the same problem?
Please let me know.
It means that one of the files that is opening when you start Excel
contains buggy VBA code. The files will be in one of three places:
- A folder named xlStart. The location of this folder will vary
depending on your edition of Windows and Office. Use the Find or
Search option on the Windows start menu to find it.
- Under Tools -> Options -> General, an alternative startup folder may
be specified.
Try removing all of the files from those two folders, start Excel,
then open the files one by one until the one with the bug in it is
found.
The third possibility is that it may be a defective add-in. Go to
Tools -> Add-ins, and uncheck any add-ins that are listed there. Load
them back up one at a time until you find the one with the bug.
Once you've identified the problem file, just leave it out of the
folder or add-in list, as the case may be.
