My wife has to complete a PowerPoint presentation this
weekend. She has PP at work, but all we have at home is a
very old version of PP4.0. These are just a simple group
of bulleted slides. Are these versions at all upwardly
compatible? Help and thanks.

She *should* be able to do the job in PPT4 and open it in a later version,
but it might be just as sensible for her to spend time on the text of the
presentation, then get it into PPT and format it at work.

All she needs for this is that old WayHighTech standby: NOTEPAD.

Open a new file, start typing text, using a single TAB to indent as below:

Every line that starts at the left margin will become a slide title
Lines indented under a title like this become Level 1 bullets
Every additional level of indent becomes a lower level
bullet in PPT

Now she can take this file, let's call it Slides.txt, to work
Start PowerPoint, choose File, Open and type Slides.txt then click OK.
Magic. Opens as a new blank presentation to which she can apply any design
template she likes later.

As I recall, this *should* work in PPT 4 also in case she wants to test it
t'home.

Thanks, Steve, for all your help. (I can't open the email
link).

That's deliberate. Here's fine, Chuck.
Make sure your wife knows how to find us here in the newsgroup in case she
runs into any problems. Somebody's always here.
