compare cell a1 & b1. if dig 1<2 ina1 &dig 1<2 in b1 then val = 1

on excel w/s
Chelsea 10 Charlton 10 3
AstonVilla 12 ManCity 22 chk
Blackburn 13 Fulham 31 chk
CrystalPal 22 Southpton 23 chk
using IF fx, I know how to give 3 points to the win. want to also be able to
score the win = 1 point and the loss = 0 points. need to compare dig values
in a cell in relation to digit values in other cells and give it a value ???
 
put it in 3 cells, like

A2: Chelsea
B2: Charlton
C2: score (n-n), and format this column as text

Then use

=IF(LEFT(C2,FIND("-",C2)-1)=MID(C2,FIND("-",C2)+1,2),1,IF(LEFT(C2,FIND("-",C
2)-1)>MID(C2,FIND("-",C2)+1,2),3,0))
for home team points
=IF(LEFT(C2,FIND("-",C2)-1)=MID(C2,FIND("-",C2)+1,2),1,IF(LEFT(C2,FIND("-",C
2)-1)>MID(C2,FIND("-",C2)+1,2),0,3))
for away team points
