Compare and Merge

I would like to compare and merge a couple excel
workbooks/worksheets, but the compare and merge option is
greyed out. Can you tell me what I need to do to make it
available? Excel version XP.

Your assistance would be much appreciated.

You can use that feature for workbooks that are copies of the same
shared workbook, and each must contain a change history. For details,
look for 'Merging workbooks' in Excel's Help.
