I have a large word document with a Table of Contents that has under gone many editorial changes. I have a large RAM but when and save the document it quite often fails to fully save the latest version. Is there an option in Word, similar to databases, where you can "compact" the document and dispose of all the unwanted editorial changes that might be still in the background? Thanks you fro the reply.

Use SaveAs, to the same or another file name. But 'fails to fully save the
latest version' sounds like a different kind of problem. What gets lost with
your save? Do you get any error message? And what on earth is an 'unwanted
editorial change' ?
