Compact on Exit

Compact on Exit Problem:

I set the Compact on Exit in the Options to true. The problem I get is
when the Database File is closed it won't open again. I get an Hour
Glass that continues forever. In the task manager I see the
MSACCESS.EXE and I kill it. Then the Database File opens. What is
causing this problem?

The buggy Compact on Exit misfeature.

Compact the database manually when it's needed. Make a backup first.
