Hi,

I've designed a database with 50 users,Everyday i should come early
before the users login to the application in order to compact and repair the
be,as i cannot do this if a user opens his fe.
The quesion is
Can i compact and repair the be while users are working on the fe?
is there a way to compact and repair the be through the be?
Regards

You might want to check out a utility called Access Autopilot. It will
automatically backup, compact and repair databases on a scheduled basis,
hopefully at a time when nobody will be using them.

Thank you for your answer...
I knwo nothing about this utility, could you please explain more...

Regards

The shortest answer is that if you are able to get the Compact and
Repair going it will have opened the BE exclusively. Others may have
to wait a minute or so but no harm will come to the database.

In the event that someone left their Access application open you might
look on www.mvps.org/access for a utility named "Kick 'em Off" or
something like that.

And, as already mentioned in this thread, you can schedule the action.

The website is www.access-autopilot.com, although at this minute I can't
access it (server down message). I bought this utility for about $100 about 6
months ago to compact and repair overnight .mdb files overnight on a
scheduled basis.
