Hi Scrigel,

Whenever I load the command prompt i get the message "The command prompt has been disabled by your administrator." But I am logged in as an administrator.

If you have Windows XP Professional you can go to
Start > Run > gpedit.msc
User settings > Administrative templates > click on 'System'
On the right pane, select 'Disable access to the command prompt.'
Right-click > properties, it should be not configured or disabled.

Good luck

Try the below:

Create a Restore Point before editing the registry;

1. Click Start, click Run, type REGEDIT and press Enter.
2. Locate the following registry key.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System

3. Delete the DisableCMD entry in the right panel.

Scrigel,

I do have XP Pro, but i did what you said roger and there was no 'Disable access to the command prompt.'

Check here > gpedit.msc > clicking user setting, clicking
administrative templates, double-clicking system, in the right pane
there should be six folders, and below them approximately 13
directives, among which is 'disable access to command prompt,' it might
be in different words, 'disable access to cmd.exe,' or similar.

Good luck
