Combining Documents

I am often asked to combine 5 files into a 6th file. Each file has different layouts, (margins, font and font size, and headers/footers. When I paste each of the 5 documents' content into the 6th document, the layout settings from each file are now in the 6th. I would like the settings already established in the 6th document to automatically override the settings in each of the 5 other documents. I don't want to keep changing the five different layouts. Is this even possible?
